We at Derek Brown’s Calgary Driving Academy understand that you need guidance to assess your driving instruction needs. We’ll not only provide that guidance, but also all the encouragment and instruction you require to pass your driving test and reduce your insurance costs. We can also help you reduce your demerit points and increase your safety on the road. After 40 years of helping drivers, we know what it takes and can provide the services you require. We provide all kinds of training including Calgary Truck Driving Training and Instruction. We are the Calgary Driving School for both automobile and truck driving instruction.

Course Guide Class 5 – Automatic and Manual

Basic Driving Course

This class is for beginners and those with Class Seven. It includes fifteen hours of classroom time and ten hours of driving time. Classes are held on Saturdays & Sundays in the office from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm. They are split into three 5 hour sessions. Driving time consists of five 2 hour lessons that can be booked anytime Monday to Saturday between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Upon successfully completing the course, a certificate of insurance will be issued.

Brush Up Lessions

These lessons are for people who just want to refresh their driving. One brush up lesson consists of two hours of driving in a school vehicle with a skilled instructor.

Defensive Driving Course

This is a demerit reduction course worth three demerits. It is held on Saturdays only in the office from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Basic Truck Driving Course

Fourteen hours of one-on-one driving, two hours driving simulator, including air brake course. Additional hours available. For more information, see here.

Air Brake Certificate Course

This is a one day, 8 – 10 hour classroom course held on Sundays at our office from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
