Class 1 Truck Driving MELT Program in Calgary
The MELT program in Alberta is a Class 1 truck driving course called Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) for truck drivers, ensuring road safety. Our Calgary course is like a boot camp for truckers, covering vehicle inspections, defensive driving, and Alberta traffic laws. So our students learn thorough truck maintenance and handling skills for various road conditions. With all that training, Derek Brown’s Academy of Driving MELT graduates emerge as certified professionals equipped to navigate Alberta’s highways safely and confidently. So it’s not just about driving. It’s also about understanding the nuances of trucking and prioritizing safety on the road. MELT elevates the standards for truck driving in Alberta, emphasizing skill, knowledge, and professionalism behind the wheel. With that said, here’s what’s involved in our Calgary MELT course:
- Air brake (Saturdays & Thursday 8:30 am-5:30 pm)
- With 40.5 Hours of Classroom Instruction 5 weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Road Time
- 39 HOURS OF ONE ON ONE DRIVING Driving can be done anytime from 8am-6pm Mon-Sat 2 hours per day (pending availability)
- 15.5 Hours in Yard (Pre-trip) anytime from 8am-6pm Mon-Fri
- 18 Hours off Road (Parking) anytime from 8am-6pm Mon-Fri
Also includes:
- Includes truck rental for road test
- Medical Exam (if using referral doctor)
